Been doing C25K for four weeks now and occasionally suffering from shin splints. The app mentions stitches but never shin splints, any suggestions on how to prevent them?

I had the same problem. Get a gait analysis done at a local running shop. I found out that I over pronate (my ankle roll inwards as I jog) and have now got more suitable (and expensive) trainers. I did it at week 4 as I felt I deserved it! Hope this helps.

Usually one or all of three things:
1) Your shoes are not supporting your feet properly - see Flipper's gait analysis tip below;
2) You're trying to go too fast - so slow down a bit or maybe running every other day rather than three times a week;
3) You're overstriding - your foot is landing in front of your hip; take slightly smaller steps or imagine that you're cycling and consciously pull your foot back a little before it lands.
Shin splints are nasty painful things. Hope yours get better soon. Usually means resting up a bit tho...
