Achy knees

I'm about to start week 4, but my knees are quite achy, My trainers that I'm using are the old style, quite hard ridged soles, I am planing to get a gait analysis and buy some new trainers, but I can't get to the shops until next weekend, would you recommend I stop running until i get new footwear, or just take it really slow. Just to add i do most of my runs with the c25k grouprun, so they cater for all speeds, I don't really want to stop and get left behind, any advice appreciated.

If the ache in your knees persists through your non-running days, and/it is getting worse, I’d definitely recommend taking a step back. Maybe take one week off running, them go back in at week 3 if that didn’t hurt them - and maybe add in an extra week or two building up the running time from week 3 to week 4. It’s the biggest increase in the whole plan, and my knees can’t cope with it so I know I have to take a few extra weeks to get through that bit!

Hopefully a day or two or rest will sort you though, and you can carry on. Just remember slow and steady. There’s no rush at all!
