So, I finished WK1 two days ago and should be starting WK2 today. However my knees are killing me and I was wondering if doing it on a treadmill was as effective but with less impact. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Then...slow and steady... simple as that...treadmill is useful and many folk use it to do C25K...but outside is amazing... Just make sure your shoes are correct and try to land lightly...
You can reduce impact by running on a treadmill or grass, slowing down, making sure your footfall is under your body not out in front and avoiding heelstriking. Proper running shoes, fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop can also make all the difference.
Thank you for the advice. We have a specialist running shop in Truro that does that analysis so I might try that. I haven't really run much since many years ago when I had to run in boots!!! Was considerably lighter then though! Thanks again.

As a fellow Clydesdale I found running on a treadmill a lot easier on the knees, but running outside was more fun, especially if you can run in a group. I would however second the gait analysis, I got mine analysed and ended up with a
great pair of shoes, definitely the most comfortable I've ever had. Weren't cheap though!
