Hi AliK, I see that you have had a problem with your Achillies in the past, so would suggest going to a proper running shop for a gait analysis. They will pop you on the treadmill and film your footfall, then be able to recommend the type of shoe you need to support your gait. Try a few on to see which you prefer. Ask if they have them in an older style which may be cheaper...

These shoes will be pricey, but once you know if you are neutral or need a specific type of running shoe you could pop into a sportsdirect type shop and pick up the correct type a bit cheaper. Its best to go up at least half a size bigger than your normal footwear.

You may find the same shoes that the proper running shop recommend online, but try them on for size before you buy.

Correct footwear is the most important piece of equipment for running, make sure that you get it right to avoid injury.

Good luck.😊

I used cheap eBay ones for the first 6 months, got away with it but don’t recommend it!!!

Gait analysis and professional advice is the way to go, worth spending that little bit more!

Definitely get your gait analysed and correct shoe size - I've had to go from a 39 normal to 40.5 on some shoes and 40 on others so size IS important 😂. Definitely go to a "proper" running shop. Don't worry about the colour of shoes they offer you - colour is the least important thing imho. We all work to a budget and the best trick is to ask if they have any suitable shoes in last years' range/colour as they are often cheaper. If the shop genuinely cannot help you, you can always try another or go online armed with the information. I once bought online on a shop's advice because they didn't have my size in stock but they were in their online store and cheaper.

Be sure that if you order online that they have a decent policy for returns. In my case, I ordered a pair of Altras not knowing that they run small. I didn't realize it until my big toe started turning black. Now I have a pair of shoes that I can't use or return as it has been a few months since I purchased them.
