Calf pain and numbness.

On week 2 (2nd session) using a treadmill.

I get severe pain in my calfs which eventually leads to numbness in my feet when walking and running. Recovery is almost immdiate once I stop. I stretch and warm up before hand and stretch again after cool down.

I am awaiting a review with biomechanics. I have properly fitted trainers and insoles.

I have joint hypermobility syndrome and no instep (for which the trainers / insoles are designed)

Any ideas how I can relieve the pain or what could be the cause? Many thanks.

The dreadmill gives me calf and knee pain too. I never get it when running outside. I put it down to either pounding too hard or not being able to stretch out properly. Others may have more idea.

I was told to do what's called active stretching when warming up. So the stretches are movements rather than being static. I had this when i started I slowed down and focused on how I was putting my feet down when running. I was hitting the ground hard and on my heels. It took a while of going really slowly and focusing on my feet. Felt weird but made a big difference and I no longer need to think about it. Good luck. Sounds like seeking advice is the best course of action.

From personal experience, you're going to fast. As Old Floss & others would say 'slow & steady'
