Due to take week 3 run 2 today but my right knee has been playing up. Inner part just below knee. Sharpish pain when I press on it. Not unbearable but not sure whether a run is good! Tips? Thanks.

I am not a doctor or a physio, but that sounds awfully like what's currently keeping me on the Injury Couch. If it's the same as mine, and please do get it checked out, then your pain will be towards the inside of the leg, about 1-2 inches below the knee, which it sounds like it is. That's a condition called Pes Anserine Bursitis. Google will tell you all about it, it's sometimes called "Goose Foot Knee".
My advice would be to rest for a couple of days and see how it's feeling after that. I ran when maybe I shouldn't, in particular I did my graduation run when I really shouldn't have, and now haven't run for a week and a half!
I think all the usual things are good: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation (RICE). Plus lots of tea and sympathy!
Personally I am using a knee brace now, which really helps with the pain, and keeps the knee stable whilst it heals. I think what set mine off was running on an uneaven canal towpath, which caused unusual lateral movement of the joint, and put unusual pressure on the Pes Anserine Bursa, which is basically a fluid-filled sack which sits between the 3 tendons that meet at that point, and the bone.
All the best for a speedy recovery. For ref. I got this, which really helped: boots.com/boots-advanced-ad...
Take care,
Neil

Wow! Thanks @316neil! Great answer. So quickly too 😀 Was contemplating a knee support, as I think mine is more an age and shock of the new problem! Thought I was reasonably supple as a busy gardener, but starting to run for the first time the week I hit 60 may have been a little too much for my legs! As I said, not unbearable pain but don't want to spoil the progress I have made so far. Will rest for two days rather than one and see how it feels tomorrow. Defo better today than yesterday. Back to my cup of tea methinks. Thanks again, super helpful. And here's wishing you a rapid recovery so you can get back to running!
