Week 7 rest day, a few thoughts...

I have just been thinking about the programme and what a complete miracle it has worked. At 47 I hadn't done any real physical exercise other than walking in 30 years, had a terrible diet and drank to much. About the only thing in my favour was that I had never smoked.

During the first couple of weeks I struggled to get to the end of even the very short runs but I persevered and yesterday ran 27 minutes at my best pace yet.

In common with everyone I had massive doubts I could take the next step up at almost every stage and it wasn't actually until Week 6 Run 3 that I knew I was going to complete it.

I an certainly not as eloquent as some on here but to anyone just starting and struggling or contemplating taking the plunge I would say go for it, push through it when it gets tough and you will definitely become a runner.

Good luck everyone.

Totally agree with you Chris as was the same for me. You're nearly there now so have a good rest day and good luck with your next run. :0)

Couldn't agree more! I have never been a runner, or indeed wanted to be, yet here I am looking forward to starting Wk7 tomorrow and eventually graduating, then park runs, then who knows?! I'm a running junkie work in progress, and I love it! 😀

Nice thoughts Chris, we all start in different places and often don’t realise we can run, until we actually do it.
