This morning, I completed my last run so am officially a graduate, when it got to 30 minutes I thought I've got a little more in the tank, so kept going and next thing I know I'd run for a whole hour!! 6.5km!!
I'm so so so so pleased and wanted to thank everyone for the support they've been dishing out on here, I'm definitely going to keep this up.
I'm going to miss Michael Johnson's dulcet tones cheering me on though it's got to be said

Running on a few extra minutes is one thing, doubling the length of your workout is risky.
Sorry to preach, but new graduates do sometimes believe all of a sudden that they can do anything, whereas, in fact you are still a very, very new runner with only a few hours of running on your legs.
You now need to conform to the 10% rule which states that you should not increase a run by no more than 10% of your weekly total mileage. We recommend a few weeks of consolidation at 5k/30 minutes before you start to push the envelope again.
I hear you, I've been doing a few longer runs over the last few weeks, off extra 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there so feel confident that I haven't overstretched.
Ty too. I was going to ask about the increase (I knew someone had said what it should be before but had forgotten it) as I have not left enough time between graduation (next run) and the Race for Life (in 8 days). I will keep the 10% rule in my head and do some walking during it (I can only run 3k in 30 mins at the moment).
Very well done... but..( there is always a but isn't there?) Please take IannodaTruffe 's advice
Not raining on your parade... because you have done brilliantly... but he is right... and you want to keep going on this incredible journey..building up those running muscles and your strength and stamina
I'm with IannodaTruffe and Oldfloss , they really do know what they are talking about, so take care. The last thing you want to do is end up on the I.C., but keep on running and enjoy. You could also try using the 5K+ podcasts to improve your speed or stamina. Intervals runs are a real challenge (Speed podcast) and will help you build up your running speed without increasing the distance.
Anyway, go and celebrate and wear the big cheesy grin with pride all day!
Congratulations 🎉🎉
Very well done, now you can do all the consolidation and decide are you a speedy merchant or going for distance?
Mr Smooth is such a good fella, but you can do what I do and play his W9 R3 session every third run or so...
