Running mantra!

Hoots you lovelies. I just completed run 1 of week 4 and am feeling very impressed with my legs and lungs, as I perfectly managed both 5 min runs. Cannot remember the last time I managed to run for 5 mins straight! I took it slow and steady, and found myself chanting "this is my pace, this is my pace, this is my pace". Have no idea where that came from, LOL! But it sure did help me keep a steady pace, which meant my breathing was never laboured. Hey, whatever works, right?

The best thing, it was just me and a gazillion playful squirrels in the park this morning at 7:30. So serene. And I was running with the same joy as those furry critters.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't find it easy at all and had to dig deep with each run, but it truly didn't feel impossible. Hard, but achievable. And don't underestimate your mind in all this - for me it's 50% physical ability and 50% willpower and sheer bloody determination!

Happy running everyone. 🏃‍♀️

Great to hear and well done you. Sounds like a great run. I have to wait till next week for my w4r1 but am looking forward to it and hope to be similarly inspired to run well and enjoy it. Great to share your journey.

So glad you are looking forward to it, that's the spirit! Last week I made a conscious decision to not fear the next step up and trust in the programme. This mindset has helped with today's run no end!

You are so right, it's physical and mental especially as the runs get longer.

I love your mantra, that's yours now and you can use it any time you need it.

I think that squirrels make running look so easy 🙂

I never thought a mantra could help so much! Jo Wiley (my coach on the app) recommended "I love running, I love running" as a mantra but that really didn't work for me. The pace one, well, it really helped me keep pace, which in turn sorted out my breathing. And we all know how much steady breathing helps a run! Happy running, Irishprincess! 🏃‍♀️
