Hi all, just downloaded the app and set myself a start date. Any tips on mixing it with a full time job?

Full-time full-on job, young child, school governor, active social life etc - they were the excuses I used for years before starting C25K. It's all about prioritising your own health/fitness and running is a very efficient way to excersise. I'm only in week 6 but already my mindset has changed - rather than finding a way to cram the running into my busy schedule I now organise myself around my runs.

Go for it - you won't regret it!

Well done for getting your head around starting this. I work full time and do my runs about 5:30 in the morning before work. Sets me up for the day

Hi forr3suk, well done on starting the c25k program. 😊

You will need 30 mins to complete each session, and will feel like a shower afterwards.. If you can find somewhere fairly flat like a park with a tarmac path or can run near home (early mornings) or near work ( evenings) this would be ideal. You could run two weekdays and once at the weekend.

You always take at least one days rest between run days, should have some water available afterwards and its good to do a few leg stretches after your warm down walk while your muscles are still warm.

Good luck with Week1 Run 1.😊

First suggestion don't turn up to work in Lycra, very few people appreciate it! Secondly, you know if you are a morning or evening person, choose which suits your metabolism and mindset, as otherwise it is always a fight. Make a regular date to run, the Weeks in the programme can flex to suit you, just don't run consecutive days. Always take your rest. I prefer to run every other day on the plan, others do MWF and take the weekends off. If you know you have tougher days at work on certain days then flex the programme around that.

Just a bit of thinking and organisation ahead of starting will help you, rather than trying out all sorts of combinations that could cause you to lose interest and impetus.

The next thing, just get out there and do your first run. Then that way you know what you feel like before, during and after.

Well done for signing up to the best running club in the world, keep posting if you want to - we love seeing folk progress.

Good luck for Run 1

I found it useful (and still do!) to actually write the runs into my diary - then I would look at it and think 'I'm going to do week....run... when I get home today'. This also means that if for some reason I can't do a run, I can 'rearrange' it - which seems to be work psychologically better than just postponing it!

I also used to make sure my other half knew, so that the first question when I got home was not 'do you want a cup of tea' but 'are you going out for a run'!!

I go directly after work, if I went home and sat down even for a moment I'd be done for. Also don't let yourself think going for a run is optional, you are going, it's a fact and that's that. ;)

Very well done you... welcome :) Bluebirdrunner has given you some great advice there...

Lots of friends on here run with full time jobs, full time family and full time lives :)

You organise this to suit you... rest days, essential, listening to your body, absolutely essential and taking it slowly and steadily, until you are moving, at what for you, is a comfortable pace.

Do not be tempted to push yourself too hard.. our running legs, as one of our stalwart seasoned runners often tells us, take time to grow... and this is only the beginning of a wonderful journey :)

Keep posting... there are many Newbies just beginning and others, part way along this running path , just like you.....and the graduates and beyond who have experienced much of what folk experience on their journey.. well, their advice is invaluable! :)

So.. all that you need to do, is to set out and to post your first run report :)
