Hip Replacement

Hi

Is there anyone else who is running after a hip replacement? On week 5 and having some hip pain which is worrying me a little. 4 years post op and not had issues before. Don't want to give up!

Yes me and unfortunately I got all the way to graduation and two post-grad runs and then got struck down with crippling hip pain - at one point I could barely walk. The pain has eased off now but hip still doesn't feel quite right - it is a bit stiff and tight still. I have stopped running until I can see the surgeon who did the op to find out what's going on. I am 2.5 years post op and haven't had a twinge in all that time before now. I am hoping it's just something to do with muscles not being strong enough to stabilise joint and can be cured with Physio.

That's interesting. I only have a twinge at the moment. I think it is because I am using new muscles which maybe aren't as strong. Gives me hope that you graduated but sorry you are in pain. Hope it goes soon!

Yes it could well be that. I find it hard to believe that running has damaged my bionic joint. I run very slowly and not very far. I would say make sure you stretch out well post run - I did find my muscles tightened up when I started running.
