Just did my third run of the week, and my legs are in agony!!!! The first two runs were fine which I was surprised about as it was the first exercise I've done since quitting smoking after 30 years!

I think my legs thought I was joking the first 2 times and now they're saying "hang on a minute! What on earth are you doing?!?!............."

Hi,

I completed week 1 last Saturday and I was in agony most of the day and by Saturday night I thought I would never run again! 😥 They were still a little painful when I got up on Sunday morning but by the evening I was fine and I started wk 2 on Monday and completed it today and I feel great.just make sure you keep moving and hopefully you will be fine.

Well done for getting to run 3 before the agony! I crawled into the bath after w1r1 and couldn't walk for the next couple of days! It will get easier, it's just your muscles starting to become runners muscles. Have a good rest day or two then on to week 2.

It is not unexpected... it took two runs for your body to realise something strange was occurring! It is never the day after.. it is always the day after the day after :)

Take it really steady and take it very slowly...Our bodies do need to go through this, but, the runs each week will build you up slowly and safely..that is why the Graduates will always urge folk not to try to rush things...:)

You will have the aches and pains, and you will know when it is more than what should be expected :) Listen to your body and move forward very, very gently.. try to land lightly and to relax into the run...hard I know, as there is so much to think about.... But you can do this :)
