A quick question for you lovely lot. My shins seem to tighten up and give up before the rest of me does. Anything I can help to alleviate it? Thanks all.π

Firstly, try slowing down...

Do you stretch after your run? If not, try these nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/...

Fitted running shoes helped me. And looking where I'm going instead of at my feetπππ

Slow down... and try to land lightly..
The temptation when we begin, or at least for some of us...is to really thump or stomp down with our feet... I feel it is the intense concentration on the running that causes it Look.. I...... am...... RUNNING!!! Thump, thump! I know I landed much too hard , until I found out more about it, and had great advice from folk on here.
But, seriously, more likely, it is, the recognised shock impact of our feet hitting the floor and the shock-waves reverberating through your legs and body..The way we should try to land, and there is so much info about that subject... has been described as, a running on egg shells... kissing the ground with your foot..etc. Maybe take a look at the info out there, and I am sure there will be advice for you on here; and of course Laura suggest in C25K that the main focus starts with landing with your foot underneath you
There will be aches and pains, so make sure you are warmed up well and just take it steady...

I had sore shins when I first started and it took me a while to realise it was a tightness in my calves. As IannodaTruffe suggests the NHS are very good for helping and they won't do you any harm to incorporate them in. We do have a NHS stretch Quest on the go on our Stregnth and Flex forum which might help with motivation if you are interested.
