I meant to say on my last post that I am now plucking up courage to register with park run but worried about finishing last or that everyone may have gone home and left me running on my own!!

Hi there - I have been on a couple of parkruns and both times I was one of the slowest there! On my first one I came in third from last, and was overtaken by people including a pregnant woman, a woman with a baby in a pushchair, and a very old man with a long white beard.

Don't worry about being slow or being last - they have a marshal going round as a "back marker" to help anyone who needs it, and this person will officially be the "last one in". It's worth trying the run to see how it goes - I found that everyone involved was very friendly and encouraging.

You sure the man with the long white beard wasn't 'Santa' ? I would do my utmost to keep up with him. He may have a present for you !

I wouldn't worry about being left on your own ! Looked at your earlier post and there aren't many who can say saved any energy at all for a late burst never mind a few seconds.

Never done park run myself work part time including Saturday but looking to wangle my way somehow on to one. From what I've heard there all a good bunch on park runs. Think most would be so curious to see who can possibly run/walk slower than themselves.

But this running lark has been great for my health and wellbeing and as you say wish I'd started it earlier. By the way I'm a mere 60year old !

Go for it, I did a park run after week 6 of C25k walking and slow ish run. I wasn't last by any means, your basically competing with yourself you will love it, everyone is so friendly and encouraging I also met some really lovely people who I've remained friends with. I went on my own which was quite nerve racking but within minutes I felt totally relaxed and ready to enjoy the challenge. Keep us posted.
