I am no royalist, and find it hard to reconcile a continuing family dynasty as unelected head of state, however ....

The queen has it seems to me carried out her duties with considerable dignity and dedication. She has done a job which she had no choice but to take, impeccably.  Queen Elizabeth II has managed the position of monarch in the best way she possibly could in a modern decracy, and she deserves every credit for doing so, and our thanks.

My concern would be that you don't get and choice in what you get with an inherited head of state, so her succesor may not be so worthy of the role. But for our current queen, she is admirable and I wish her a very happy birthday
