Shin splints

Had a horrible run this evening. W4R1 and had to stop on the 3rd run with shooting pains up the front of my lower leg. I had it a bit on sunday right at the end of w3r3 but it was just about bearable.

Really p**sed off! Can I just trade in my body this one is buggered.

Any tips/suggestions?

calf raises, heel drops, lunges, and squats, always squats. It is not possible to do too many squats in life.

Also ice after running and do proper wall calf stretches before running and 15-20 mins of foam rolling your calves after. Unless you have been in a car crash or have some congenital condition, there is really nothing wrong with your body that can't be fixed be moving properly. (that is admittedly slightly easier said than done, but persistence...)

Don't tie your shoe-laces too tight. Try loosening them. In fact, have a look at this if you haven't done so already:
