2 weeks on business in KL. It's too hot / steamy for this poor fair skinned flabby Brit to run outside, and the hotel 'fitness room' is minuscule. Just hoping I don't undo all my good work!

Not sure whether to feel sorry for you or not! Sure you won't undo 3 months of training. Its bitterly cold in the UK with an easterly wind.

I may melt but think I will survive! This is a trip I have done a few times before so I know how to manage the problem, the worst thing is the humidity, it's rather like being in a gym's steam room. 33degrees C, 'real feel' 45 degrees and instant sweating. Usually there is a daily thunderstorm to briefly break through it but not at at the moment. In contrast the office is super chilled, it's the only place I know where you need a jacket just for when you are indoors.

Running outside is most definitely not feasible.

That office sounds perfect - you could set up a 'race route' using office chairs and bins as cones and try a few laps round the office. Or better still, an obstacle course like school sports day - lol :-) (obviously paying attention to all health and safety regulations and taking care to avoid trailing leads from the photocopier etc). Encourage colleagues to join in at lunchtime - you might inspire some new recruits for C25K!

I jest, obviously - it might be worth doing some stretching every day in your hotel room to keep your muscles awake and flexible. Also is there anywhere nearby where you could do some walking, perhaps earlier in the morning/early evening when it might be a bit cooler?

I love this - it sounds like a health and safety nightmare but then what do they know :)

ah yes, I remember the humidity in that part of the world very well. Nothing quite like walking out of a wonderfully well air-conditioned Changi airport to the massively humid Singapore air!

What about doing flights of stairs? You could do reps and do more the longer your stay is? Maybe take the opportunity to work on some core strength and do some push ups and sit ups.....

Gosh what business take you KL - Thought we put air miles to excess!! The office sound a perfect place to do your strength and flex if you have the privacy otherwise the fitness room may need a visit. I once had two weeks off and it was tough to get back out there and wished I hadn't stopped. Happy running, flexing doing what you can when you can!

Compromise - get an exercise bike in the office. It aint quite the same but it's aerobic and great for the legs for when you get back to running. :)

When we were in KL we always used to get up and do all the physically strenuous stuff at dawn when it is still relatively cool.

Some lovely ideas in here, if we weren't sandwiched like sardines in a too small space! Looking forward to getting home!
