steak, chips, bernaise sauce, no regrets

Stopped at the butcher in nearby big-town at 5.29. One minute. Enforce closing hours. Got two lovely looking rib eye steaks. Got a ready made bernaise sauce at the supermarket. Went home. Watched "Secrets and lies" and then cooked the steak with onions, 'shrooms, cherry tomatoes, peas, oven chips and the ready made sauce. A nice bottle from the pope"s new castle long time ago.

Just gorgeous! And this is why I run.

An 18 km run earlier in the day had given me total absolution for a calorie splurge without guilty feelings. I may not have lost any weight (and I still want to lose about a stone), but who cares. Life is for living and enjoying.

Hope you had a great weekend too :)

  • Oh my! Yum yum!! 18k.....I can only dream! Good on you!

  • It's hard work, but all worth it when you get to eat it all back *grin*

  • Thanks Kat. I find it very hard to beat a good steak when it comes to enjoyable food, and also the easiest and quickest to cook. And, of course, the protein is great for rebuilding muscle tears in the legs, so it's really all for medicinal purposes (including the lovely antioxidants in the wine).

  • Sounds like a well deserved treat :)

  • Tasty!! I'm having roast beef today which I'll be 'allowed' after swimming 70 lengths of the pool this morning

  • Well earned and well deserved, Tomas. Sounds just ideal and I agree with your sentiments. We do have to watch what we eat, but we're allowed a treat and to enjoy ourselves. Me, today, it's roast beef, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, totally unashamedly and unapologetically. :D

You did great yesterday; looking forward to your HM?

  • I had a Wetherspoons Brunch burger, with egg, bacon, cheese and onion rings and chips yesterday after my ParkRun. We deserve it don't we Tomas? XX

  • Here here....that's exactly what it's all about, the best of everything...the ability to run and then the sheer delight of eating gorgeous food with a hungry tummy and no worries about calories! Well done on the run.

  • After visiting the physio on Friday, I succumbed to proper chippy fish & chips as its only a few doors away. It's the law :)

  • Oh spooky Tomas. I had rib eye last night too. Peppercorn sauce, chips and green beans. Yum. Only thing is I woke up at 4 this morning feeling ravenous! What's that about? I knew I should have had the sticky toffee pudding.

Well done on the 18K. You earned that food!

  • Its lovely being able to indulge without the guilt, well done tomas and that 18k is amazing! :)

  • 18k! I'd say you earned every single mouthful Tomas. Well done you :)
