Is over 111kg too heavy for this?

I made it to week 3 session 2, but starting to wonder if 111kg is too heavy for this. I'm only 5' 10". Do I see how far I get?

I did it at that weight (well 112kg) and ran my first 5k in august last year. Get proper trainers and start by walking more. Good luck!

What makes you think you are too heavy? For my height I am classed as obese, I also suffer from a few chronic conditions and have almost completed week 7 and many people start with extra erm extra cushioning.

The programme does work, the key is to take it slow and repeat runs when needed until you are ready to move on.

If you are having any specific concerns it maybe worth booking an appointment with your doctor just for a quick health check.

Keep going you will surprise yourself.

There are lots of people here who have done it, general advice is if in any doubt, check it out. Gp's are usually very supportive if you tell them what your planning to do. Running is very mental as well as physical. If you have the total go ahead from your doc, those days when you've found it tough it will help you push through with the words from your doc saying yes you can. If that makes sense. I am sure you will be fine, good luck.

No. But if in doubt check with your doc. Sometimes it's mind over matter that keeps you going. We all think we are not up to it at times. Keep it up! Just go gently until you feel better. Happy running.

Agree with all the above. It's not easy! Running is hard and demands effort - but that's why you feel so great when you do it! Keep trying - slow and steady - I'm sure you'll get there like so many before you. Good luck!

Why not start with brisk walking to get your legs started? If you mention to your GP first he may have further advice but I am certain he will be most impressed that you are even considering starting and will advise you.

This is a brilliant programme and will be life changing for you. Take it steady to start with and I'm sure you'll be fine.

All the very best to you - you won't regret it! :) :) :)

It's not too heavy, but it's hard work to carry that weight over a distance (as I'm sure you have found out). On the plus side, the more weight you carry, the more calories you burn as you run. So you'll lose weight quicker when you start from a large number (sorry, that's the Pollyanna in me, always trying to find a bright side).

Best of luck!

It seems like everyone is agreeing that your never too big or heavy to walk and run through the C25K plan. The main aim is to maintain your motivation as it doesn't matter which week your in. If you need to repeat many weeks on that level, then keep doing it. One thing I would really suggest like some others have done, is to invest in a good pair of running training shoes, that has the best gel support in the sole and possibly purchase knee supports if you have any knee troubles, they actually aid your running as they warm the muscle around the joint and also support the knee. However if you take the advice from Laura, warm up and stretch prior to your run and follow the advice to correct your running technique and posture while your running and walking. What a difference it makes just doing it right. Another little tip i began doing was carrying a bottle of water or placing it somewhere safe halfway point just to keep you well hydrated in the warmer times. Good luck to you and let us know how you get along.

If you really are concerned then, as others have said, you could check it out with your GP just to be on the safe side. Generally speaking, so long as you go slow and take your rest days, you should be okay. Well done for starting the programme - you've achieved a lot already. Good luck with your next run and best wishes.

Made it through to week 4 run 2, and the suggestion of buying some proper trainers worked. Picked up some compression socks and that seemed to help too. Thank you all for the advice.
