If you get breathing sorted out and are in your stride can you then stop for 10 mins (to start a race maybe) and pick up where you leave off ie not have to go through the difficult bit again?

I can, I've run to parkrun a few times, it's not an exact science so sometimes I've been early and had to hang around for a while, then there's the chat, notices and handing out any t-shirts so it can be 10 minutes easily before I'm off again. I also stop for a wee if I'm running past a conveniently situated public loo and although this isn't a 10 minute stop I'm fine starting again. Try it and see if you're OK.

Thanks Beady, I didn't see your reply till now! I will give it a try at the next Parkrun. I usually go from cold, not wanting to use up all my juice!
