Stiff knees

I completed wk1and felt great. Then went down with chest infection and didn't run for 11days. Decided to repeat wk1 and did 1st run yesterday but knees were terrible-so stiff and sore. I kept going and they gradually loosened. I hope they don't feel the same for my next run.

I am a bit confused ... I thought I read the other day that you'd run 4.2 kms on week 1? That's an amazing feat for a new runner! Really glad your chest infection has cleared and that you are out again. Be aware that if you've been on antibiotics they can upset all sorts of different parts of your system (while clearing the bugs infecting your chest!) , so you should return gently...very gently.

Knees are most likely to give grief in the early days if you pound the ground too hard, over stretch, if you are still cold, or if they are still recovering from earlier runs. Be kind to yourself, and you'll make appropriate progress without injury.

Best wishes for your future runs, Linda :)

I did run 4.11km to be exact on my 3rd run of Week 1. I ran 3.9km yesterday as my knees were quite sore. I will run again on Friday and take it easy.Thank you for your support
