I know exactly how you feel. I was let go after 32 years of service because of my COPD. I'm sorry that you are going through this. I hope you handle it better than I did. Sending good thoughts your way

I was a nanny and was let go as well as soon as I got copd.

I'm sorry you are having trouble. I had to retire early because my job was sold out from under me. They couldn't just fire me because of my illness, but they made life miserable and I finally gave it up. Mornings are usually my best time. It's mid afternoon I start running out of steam. I coughed so much and so hard I thought I would pass out. I had to quit the inhaled steroids, and have felt much better. Talk to your doctor about your medication. It could be why you are coughing more. Take care and breathe easy!

The only time I try to quiet cough is when it's time to sleep. Other than that, the more, the better. Gotta get that stuff up! When I'm filled with mucous, there's no room for air.

Check with local employment office in most states it's illegal to fire people because health problems get in the way of job performance, have you asked Dr for letter stating your health issues and how they can effect you?

It may be illegal but it happens. Because I had a physically demanding job and I couldn't do it anymore.

Hi,

Have you utilized the FMLA?

It's for such situations

My employer did something similar because I needed oxygen at the time.. Still do

But I was able to transfer to another department, where not so physical

Do you think they would be open to that?
