Hi daniel, we can't really tell just from what you have said what do you exactly experience but for now, try to make yourself busy and distracted. It helps. Only the diagnostic tests and the doctors can tell what it really is. Just focus on the good side of life for now

Hi danielstandish,

Thank you for posting with us. I hate you’re having to deal with this, but I see you’re in the process of getting answers. That’s awesome. Any time there is blood in the stool or abdominal pain there needs to be a good answer. A FIT test should get you a definitive answer for the blood in the stool. Also, please know that what you’re experiencing could be caused by many different things. Your goal is to narrow down the options so you don’t have to keep speculating. The speculation is what drives anxiety but you’re on your way to getting some good answers so you should feel good about that. I always like to focus on what I can control. Faith, hydration, nutrition, exercise, and attitude are good things to control and focus on being the best patient you can be. You also have a very strong incentive to get on a path to being well as soon as you can. Those two young children of yours should be a very high motivation and I’m sure they are👍❤️. I hope they are doing well.

I think a good thing to do is to write down all the symptoms you’re experiencing so you make sure you cover each one with your doctor. The description of the stool physically and the fact you’re experiencing some abdominal pain should be shared. A lot of topics can be covered as well as new ones you haven’t thought about. I always like to jot down and make sure I cover all of my issues.

Also, I see you are young and that’s a good thing to have going for you. However, you should never accept a diagnosis based on your age. You lay out the symptoms and you look for a diagnosis for them. Never accept a diagnosis based on you being young and it couldn’t possibly be happening because you are young. Just focus on the symptoms and get answers for them. If you don’t feel you are being treated properly, there’s always the option of getting a second opinion. I hope you are not experiencing anything like this, but I always like to put this out there as I have seen some patients are treated this way. I see a lot of systems that deal with the percentages and often entertain a diagnosis based on that. Just make sure you don’t fall into that and focus on getting answers for what you’re experiencing.

I do wish you the best in finding out what’s going on. I think you’re well on your way to doing that and you should feel good about it. I think Googling is okay, but it can lead you down a wormhole of information that does not and will not pertain to your case. It can give you some questions to ask your doctor. It can give you some topics to cover with your doctor. I think everybody does the “googling”. My Oncologist told me to stop Googling stuff🤔😂. So, my advice would be to stop googling and focus on getting those FIT test results and moving on from there to getting good answers. I think you’re moving in the right direction and you’re well on your way to getting those answers. Keep eating well as that can be a definite benefit. Focus on what you can control.

Please keep us up to speed and let us know what you find out as you go through this journey to get answers. That type of information that can be helpful to others on this site as well.

Thank you,

If they don't find anything and you continue to have any issues please let me know. I might be able to offer up some other ideas of what I went through as a possibility after you check everything else. Good luck. Colon pain is awful. I was supposed to have a fusion that caused excruciating pain, but I would gladly have that over organ issues any day of the week.

I joined the colon cancer group because I wanted to learn more, thinking I had colon cancer. I had the pains that you described and were relentless, rapid weight loss and a lot of it, thin stools and blood in my stool. I worried myself to death while google screamed cancer. It turned out to be my foods that triggered inflammation. I have several autoimmune diseases. Certain foods trigger flares. Several conditions can cause this. A colonoscopy and endoscopy will likely find the root cause. Gluten, dairy, high FODMAP foods are known inflammatory foods. I had to cut ALL of those out.

oh god no, don’t Google anymore. Google has this habit of telling us, when something’s wrong, we’ve got this, that or the other and you have 6 minutes to live 😁 Sorry about the joke there yet, Google loves to give us the worst case scenario. Websites like to scare us. Especially in an age where knowledge is supposed to a click away and we need to know now, what the deal is.

Your FIT results should come fairly quickly. Things are looking okay so far. Please bear in mind that with blooding, anything can be the cause. Haemorrhoids are the most common gremlins. Polyps like to get in on the action where there is these polyps. They are mostly harmless in themselves but can cause problems. There’s many things that can make us bleed Take everything one step at a time. At the mo, keep an eye out for yours results and see what they say.

Good luck.

😂😂 the jokes are good and yes I know Google is the devil and I think my FIT test is due back any time now so I will just from there, Google can’t change what’s all ready happening can it

But thanks for your time to try chill this big head of mine out I will keep updated

Thank you xx

I’ve been there. Something happens. It worries me. Then, I’ve googled and felt a lot worse. Even worsens my symptoms I already have been having. I learnt to avoid as much as possible. It is a waiting game unfortunately but when we’re waiting, it’s out of our control. So, May as well think about other stuff while the wait.

Keep us posted. You’re doing something about it anyway..

Personally yes I had this. I had a lot of blood with my poop and pain in my left side. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis a couple of weeks ago. I had prepared myself for the worst so was weirdly relieved with UC even though that in itself isn’t great. Being in limbo land while awaiting results is so tough but please try not to stress too much. Easier said than done I know. A little hint from me - avoid ibuprofen for now. That made my stomach so much worse. And now I will def avoid it like the plague. I started taking a good probiotic and I believe that also helped. Good luck. I hope you get results soon. Are you in the U.K.? Results for FIT test come back pretty quick. I had my colonoscopt within 2 weeks of having my positive fit test results.
