Hi,
I’ve had a colonoscopy at hospital this week. Whilst biopsies have been collected, the Consultant was pretty confident it is cancer.
Of course, this is a shock. I’m 53 years old…
Any help and advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi Jasper-2012
Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected.
The key is to catch any issue early. You are doing that. You should feel really good. You are way ahead of the game. If you do have something, you are catching it very early. That is awesome. And you're probably getting it way before it had a chance to go anywhere else.
In my case, I didn't find it early. At age 49 I had a full size tumor growing out of my colon that had metastasized to a different area of my body. I had to have partial colectomy surgery. I was lucky enough to be able to participate in a clinical trial that saved my life as the chemo's and radiation didn't work. I really wish I had a colonoscopy at age 40.
What was it that brought you to get a colonoscopy in the first place? Did you have some symptoms or is this just a precautionary measure? Do you have a family history of it that you know of?
For now, we do wish you the very best and hope you get good results from pathology. You are catching this early. You should feel good about that. Please let us know what the results are. I'm very interested. I have a lot of advice on the topic.

Cheers, Tom! Motivating😊I had some bleeding, went to see the GP, blood and poo tests and then the 14 day-colonoscopy appointment. Waiting for biopsy, but the Consultant pretty confident it’s cancer.
Hi I know exactly how you feel I’m 44 mum of 3 and was diagnosed on the 28 th feb 2022. You world falls apart, I have my surgery booked for next week, however in between the various hospital appointments and scans life remains pretty normal at the moment and that’s what keeps me going normality and routine. You will probably feel numb at the moment and very sad but just take each day at a time, you can do it 😊
The same happened to me ,as soon as they saw it they new it was cancer. But if it’s caught early it can be cured. I didn’t even need chemo and I’ve been fine for the last 4 years.if it’s cancer they will get you into hospital very quickly and remove the part of the bowel where the cancer is and hopefully god willing everything will be ok.try not to worry and let the doctors sort it
Hi Jasper, I got my diagnosis yesterday and had a CT scan today to see if it has spread. I was pretty positive about it yesterday ut now I'm getting a bit scared. I guess we're at a similar stage
Jasper-did you have any symptoms in addition to the blood? Best wishes to all here.
Positive thoughts to you. I’m having similar experience now, but haven’t had colonoscopy yet.
Hi Jasper, I hope you are ok. I’m 4 years clear this year, following re-section/chemo. You will adapt - stay strong, keep positive. I had my tumour for years and a perforation of the bowel wall but no recurrence so far.. Good luck.
