Not sure what is going on or what i should do but having bloody stools/clots and upper stomach pain just all of a sudden today. All help is appreciated!

Hi! I'm so sorry your going through that. The bleeding could be from a number of things including colon cancer. I suggest you get a colonoscopy just to be sure. Best wishes.

JW1515, Thanks for posting and I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing pain. You definitely want to get checked out by a specialist. There's a number of reasons why you may be experiencing blood in the stool and stomach pain, but the only way to know what's going on is to get examined.

Depending on where you live, insurance, etc., you may need to start with your primary care doctor to get a referral to see a specialist.

Please call them today and be sure to let them know about the blood in stool as well as the pain (try to rate it on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst pain you can imagine).

Also important to note if you have any family history of GI issues, including colorectal cancer.

Finally -- if the pain becomes intolerable or there's a big increase in blood, go to the emergency room! If you are questioning if it is bad enough to go to the ER...., it probably is.
