Hello and thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear what you are going through, and especially being dismissed by your doctor, that's no good. We encourage you to get another doctor, or at least get your primary to refer you to a specialist. While there are a number of potential causes for your rectal bleeding, including cancer, you need to be examined by a specialist, and they need to perform the proper tests for the cause of the bleeding to be determined.
It is a good idea to keep notes on how often the bleeding is happening, is it accompanying a stool and noting the approximate volume, color, etc. Also important to keep track of anything unusual that you are doing (eating unusual foods, or exercise such as biking that can irritate the area).
Please keep us in touch - but we advise you get to a specialist as soon as possible.
Hang in there and we're hoping for the best,
Have you made other doctor appointment
Hi, you’re very young, please try not to worry. This could be piles to UC. And usually UC develops around your 20’s.
That is alot of blood. Ensure you get proper answers as to the cause of the bleeding
I recommend you get a colonoscopy asap
Defo get checked, it's too much blood.
You're very young so it must be either a bad case of piles, anal fissures or ulcerative colitis.
Best wishes.
Any update? Can you try to see a different doctor if your current doctor won't see you? Sorry to hear you are going through this. The peace of mind you'll have in getting answers will be worth the headache of all the back and forth to fight to try and get an appointment/screening. Hang in there, we're here for you!
Just a quick update. My doctor has given me a thing for a stool sample and he has arranged a colonoscopy with a colonoscopy surgeon. So once there's a space available the surgeon will ring me for my colonoscopy appointment.
Similar situation. So I had a normal colonoscopy and no polyps, but I continue to bleed and have constipation. Anyone know what this could be? The doc didn’t mention I had hemorrhoids or anal fissure, but would he be able to see these in a colonoscopy anyway? Still worried with no peace of mind yet until I get to the bottom of the cause of this bleeding and constipation.
