Any suggestions for High Arch slippers/shoes/flip flops?

Any suggestions for High Arch slippers/shoes/flip flops? I bought insoles for shoes. But I really want something I can slip on in the house just to walk around. My ankle turns in far, and I need a high arch support just to walk around the house, or I get swelling on top of my ankle area. Any ideas of links to flip flops or slippers that provide high arch support would be fantastic! Thank you!!

I have surgical boots and callipers make by the n.h.s. I have type 2 c.m.t. and was diagnosed over 40 years ago and have regular check ups for pressure ulcers and they have a range of different slippers, trainers and shoes on display to help with people with foot problems , it’s worth looking into

This is a difficult one, Amycatherine, as there are so many slippers out there we just can't get on because there isn't room for our insteps. Even with men's sandals the straps are too short. I now get my footwear from the NHS . My orthotist orders custom part-made boots and finishes them off to fit me. He has not really solved the slippers problem though, and i just wear my boots and AFOs all the time except in bed. The best I have managed so far is those thick socks with non-slip pimples on the soles. Not even all of those have enough instep-room, though, and they are hardly quick to put on and have zero support.

Do you see an orthotist and can he/she help at all?

Birkenstock sandals are the best. A bit expensive but they will last for many many years. Several different styles.

Hi Beachwine - are you able to walk in Birks without straps across the back of ankle?

You would have to try a pair on. Sure they are different with each individual.

Don't know if this is any good but, there is a website widerfitshoes.co.uk that does extra deep shoes and slippers that can accommodate insoles. Had a few pairs purchased for someone else and they were really nice and worked well with the insoles.

Hi I tend to wear sandals as I have trouble getting my feet into slippers and they are easy to put on/off get as decent pair with good inner sole.

You are the best! These are amazing and I'm ordering them today. I love flip flops because the neuropathy hurts more when my skin is too covered. These are going to make my summer. Thanks again for all the good options :-)

You’re welcome. I have to we’re dress shoes at work and I know all about having your feet covered. It’s horrible.

Birkenstocks are the best sandals, expensive, but you will get years of wear from them not like a cheap sandal you will wear for a couple of years. The cork insole with wear molds to the shape of your foot. They come in many styles & are give the best arch support.

Thank you! Do you think they are the highest arch possible? I wish there were slippers and flip flops (I tried Vionic already)... I need really high arches in them. I wish we could alter things. My arch is so high that when walking my ankles fall in, and by the end of the night they are so swollen.

My family needs high arch support and the ones rhat their ankles turn in really alot use crocs. They make ones that have a furry insert and they take out the insert so then the slipper is very deep. Good luck!
