I had a ct scan yesterday and got the results today. I have enlarged left axillary lymph nodes, largest measuring 19x14 mm, previously subcentimeter and measured 10x8.5. Enlarged left subpectoral lymph nodes are identified.
Nothing on the right side. I had a covid vacine about 2-3 weeks ago.
The oncologist called right away to schedule and ultrasound for further evaluation and to determine if we have a 'hot spot'....
I survived renal and endometrial cancers for about 10 years. Then this past year was diagnosed with CLL and told I have probably had it for 2+ years and am in watch and wait.
While I am relieved there is no new cancer I am a bit concerned about this development and am hoping it is due to the covid vac. My ultrasound is scheduled for the 21st of this month.
I thought I could relax but now I am concerned about this new development.
Any words of comfort or otherwise? Thank you for being such a super great group that I can trust to come to for information.....

Even in healthy folk, raised lymph nodes are a reported symptom from COVID-19 boosters, but they return to the normal size after a few weeks. Other community members have also reported temporarily swollen armpit/axillary nodes. Swelling armpit nodes is actually a good sign, because the germinal centers of our lymph nodes is where our B and T cells multiply (causing the swelling) and interact to produce mature B cells (plasma cells) that churn out the COVID-19 specific antibodies that should reduce the severity of any subsequent COVID-19 infection.
It's good that you have a proactive medical support team. You might be wondering on the 21st whether it's worth proceeding with your ultrasound!
Within a few days of my diagnosis my white count was 20K ( reached 225k before I needed treatment). My scans showed enlarged lymphadenopathy throughout my chest, abdomen and pelvis. I also had them in my neck.
Hopefully your lymph node is just part of your chronic lymphocytic leukemia!
Well once the oncologist knew I recently had a covid shot he said 'that explains everything' andmy ultrasound was cancelled and postponed for 2 months to get a base line evaluation and to be sure it has gone down...I was greatly relieved. however, I also know, especially after this week, that this bumps in the road are all part of cancer of any type. You take a test, you get good news or bad news...you learn to deal with it somehow....I hope Thanks all for your kind words and understanding. I am still kind of new to this new game of CLL.....
