Full Blood Counts#

Hi all, I notice that on my recent Bloods taken at my local haematology departments, has a heading, entitled: Sample Comments.

Underneath the heading are the words:

'FBC tests are currently out with the UKAS scope of accreditation for this laboratory'.

Can anyone offer an explanation for this statement, is it normal?. and are there other blood test which may be of value to me.?.

UKAS is a service which monitors the accuracy of tests, measurements, etc. It would appear your lab has had problems with the accuracy of its FBC results. Might be worth pointing out to your consultant/CNS.

Thanks Niceone01, that was revealing, I note that the same statement appears on many of my Blood Tests.

I will indeed point it out to my Locum Consultant, if she stays long enough in post, that is.😀

HiThere is nothing wrong with the results the lab have probably moved to new equipment from a different supplier, thus have to be reacredited. I worked in and labs for 40 yrs. There results you have received are accurate and clinically valid. The note on the results is very normal when systems change
