Second bivalent booster

I always react pretty dramatically to any vaccine-fever, terrible chills, fatigue, and sleeplessness. Yesterday when I popped into my local pharmacy for the second bivalent booster, the pharmacist said that it's very probable that this second bivalent booster will produce even more side effects if you are already prone to vaccine reactions. 18 hours later--not a minute of sleep, awful chills, and 103 degree fever (39.44 celsius). I hope all your experiences with this are mild, dear friends, but you may wish to clear your calendar for a day or two if you tend to react to vaccines! Now back to my couch!

I got my 2nd bivalent 3 days ago. I always get them on a Friday afternoon, so I have the weekend to recover. Weirdly, this is the first one that caused no side effects. My first bivalent was the Pfizer (7 months ago), but this was the Moderna, which has 20 micrograms more juice, so I was bracing for a stronger reaction. I didn't even feel the needle go in and started to wonder if I actually rcvd it. I finally got a tiny bit of stiffness in my deltoid and was relieved. Not sure how I got lucky this time, but am grateful.

I've had that concern about a vaccine, too! 🤣 It's funny when we are "hoping" for a side effect just to make sure we got the juice. Hooray for no side effects for you.

ttomo -- that sounds worse than Covid is these days for most people. I haven't had the bivalent (had 4 prior vaccines), and, with Covid getting so much milder, am debating the issue in my head.

I still think it is wise to get the bivalent booster. Covid may be milder today but it still can be dangerous and even a mild case can produce long acovid.

I always have a reaction too,, so I wasn’t looking forward to getting it. Got mine on Friday, had a low grade fever (100.5) over 12 hours later, and spent the rainy weekend on my couch popping Tylenol.

My CLL dr had recommended taking Claritin and Tylenol the day before and the day of the booster to lessen the reaction, I only did the day of, and my symptoms were a bit less then usual. Perhaps that helped?

Tylenol helped although I didn't take it until the fever came on. Happily I woke up feeling much better this morning.

I haven't had any reactions at all from any of the covid vaccines until now. I got my second bivalent yesterday and became ill last night--vomiting and chills. I'm now on Venetoclax and don't know if that's the reason or not....maybe something I ate? Oh well. I am better today!

I got the bivalent booster last November, I plan to skip the 6 months booster and get the reformulated one in the fall. I usually get a bad reaction that knocks me down for a couple of days. I think if I spread the vaccine for a while longer, the reaction may be less strong... Who knows, I will find out in the fall…
