Search for 'pre-existing conditions' coverage in the travel insurance and read that section of the plan . Yes. It's available. Some might have conditions that you buy the travel insurance a certain time prior to the trip.

We have an annual European policy, taken out in November 2022 with All Clear. We told them about my CLL, I am 71 and being treated with Acalabrutinib. They actually weren't concerned about my CLL, they were more concerned about my 72 year old hubbies blood pressure.

They were really lovely to deal with and explained that if we decide to travel outside of Europe we can add single trips on and also cruise cover.

I am CLL watch and wait, but because I've got more health conditions I can only get one trip insurance. This has been Saga recently, but if my trips are 10 days or less we don't bother with it as it is so expensive. £200 at least for 10 days. Last year I wanted to go to the Caribbean for 3 weeks and the quotes I got were around £4000 so we didnt go.We have had travel insurance for 50 years and never claimed. We wish we hadnt bothered, but lucky for us never needed it. Obviously can be really expensive if you do fall I'll, so I dont advocate not getting insurance, but you need to read five print otherwise they don't pay up.

I have a Nationwide Flex Plus account which comes with worldwide cover. It’s £13 per month and they have agreed to insurance with my CLL, still on watch & wait with no upgrade costs

Thats interesting. I also have cover with Nationwide. I contacted them to inform them of my CLL diagnosis (4 years ago) and they were happy to continue cover with the exclusion of any CLL claim. Perhaps I will go back to them and query. I completed my course of O and V last July and currently in a good place CLL wise so I have no reason to think I would need to make a claim (CLL) in the near future.

I too had travel insurance covered with my Nationwide account for £13 a month. When I asked about my CLL diagnosis I was told they could cover me for everything but not cover me for CLL. However, after either one or two years the question that they posed 'were you diagnosed or having treatment in the last 12 months' could be answered 'no'. I did ask again in my second year of diagnosis and Nationwide said they wouldn't cover me for 'anything directly or indirectly associated with my CLL'. I asked for an example and they couldn't give one, just asked me to give them one! We used Freedom travel for a year or two and now use AllClear travel insurance who are not interested in my CLL as I am on watch and wait, it's my husband's health they are more concerned with.

The same here. Have the Nationwide plus insurance. They said no to include CLL . Is it because I am an chemo tablets treatment Acalabrutinib? I will call again. THANK you for your help

I’d advise caution on accepting travel insurance that specifically excludes CLL cover. What is a CLL claim in reality? My concern would be a sudden, serious infection like pneumonia leading to sepsis for example. If CLL had been excluded on the claim, you can guarantee the insurer would link the higher infection risk with the condition and refuse to cover. In the case of repatriation costs, this could be phenomenal.

There’s lots of insurers who will cover CLL. I’ll dig out the link to a list I complied some years ago.

I wonder if they’ve excluded it because you’ve previously had treatment for CLL? I called them 10 days ago to renew for this year and they said the cll was no concern.

I’ve had this insurance for the last three years and their only concern was I previously had breast cancer. They covered this but with an additional charge of approx £75 per year. It’s my ten year anniversary of BC this year and there is no additional cost on the policy. I will give them a call and double check. Take care everyone
