After nearly 3 years of shielding, COVID caught up with me on boxing Day. It was a shock when the LFT draw a line almost instantaneously.
I spoke to the Haematology emergency contact staff at around 9.00am Boxing day, and received a callback from a doctor within the hour. I was prescribed Paxlovid which my wife picked up from the hospital at 1pm.
So far symptoms very mild, raised temp from 1 day, and oxygen sats at 96%. A productive cough and blocked sinuses. Also a metalic taste in the mouth.
I was lucky to get the Paxlovid within 5 hours and so far have very mild symptoms.

Glad to hear your symptoms are mild. I’m pleased the haematology team reacted so promptly too, that’s reassuring (I believe from one of your previous posts that my husband is under the same hospital as you).
Yes, so is my husband. We did receive a letter from them ages ago saying that in the event of a positive test we should call the haematology team so it’s good to know that it does work.
Sorry to hear Covid caught up with you Robert. Seems that's happening to many! Glad you were able to get Paxlovid quickly and hope you continue to recover quickly!
I pray you have a quick recovery. Like everything, each person is unique in how they respond to illness. But for what it is worth, I had covid as well, and ton Paxlovid. I wasn't sick much at all. 1 day with a slight fever and the second night I had a sore throat. Very mild. Symptoms for 2 days and that was it. Very mild, less than other colds I've had in the past. Just make sure to take good care of your health.
Really glad the system kicked in for you & that you received Paxlovid despite the holiday season. When our works it really works well. Hope you have recovery.
