Blurred vision with Zanubrutinib (Brukinsa)

I wonder whether anybody who has been taking the recently-approved drug Zanubrutinib (Brukinsa) has experienced blurred vision? I started on the drug two months ago after having been obliged to stop Ibrutinib because it caused an ocular edema, the symptom of which was blurred vision. Now, two months after starting Brukinsa, I again have blurred vision. I am concerned that I may have to stop this medication as well, leaving me with less treatment options. I have Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia. Any information on this drug and its ocular side effects would be most welcome! Many thanks.

Hi Snoopy234,

-

I've had blurred vision in the past during treatment with Ibrutinib and dry eyes was the cause.

I'm not medically trained so all I can offer is links to other eye complications reported by CLL patients.

However your doctor will likely step through a process called "Differential Diagnosis" medlineplus.gov/lab-tests/d....

I found this link in the box on this page labeled "Related Posts"

And when I follow that link and look at the Related Posts box on that page I get these:

I hope someone else can respond with direct experience in ocular edema, but the combination of that with Zanubrutinib and Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia makes yours a very rare case.

Many thanks for your reply and information links. My usual ophthalmologist, the one who diagnosed and treated my edema, is on vacation now so I went to his temporary replacement. This doctor gave me the same two eye drops I was given previously plus a new one which is specifically for ocular edemas. However, he said that I did not have a cystoid macular edema, which was the one caused by Imbruvica. This time it is a corneal edema and the scans show far less liquid in the eye than last time, although this may be due to the fact that it has been nipped in the bud. I still don't know whether this was caused by the Zanubrutinib, but I plan to return to my usual ophthalmologist after the holidays to ask for his opinion. I'll post the outcome in case it'll be useful to anybody else.

My CLL has "invaded" my eyes, so I urge you to see an ocular oncologist, usually found at a medical teaching university. It is a rare condition.
