I'm taking Eliquis because of blood clots and Losartan for high BP. Tomorrow I'm scheduled to start 420 mg Ibrutinib. I'm concerned about possible interactions of these 3 drugs. Has anyone taken these 3 and had any side effects as a result? Thanks.

Any experience with taking Ibrutinib with Eliquis?
Losartan is not recommended with Ibrutinib because, in rare cases, it can cause ventricular arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death. I had to change to Amlopidine but I was on Losartan and Ibrutinib for about 5 years. Not the perfect reference but still useful
( ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... )
Ibrutinib also commonly causes hypertension or worsens existing hypertension. It is generally contraindicated for patients taking anticoagulants because it can cause bleeding.
The cardiac side effect profile of Acalabrutinib is preferable with less of these side effects and is being prescribed more often these days.
Perhaps talk about all of this with your doctor and ask why Ibrutinib rather than Acalabrutinib.

As I am also on Losartan, Amolodpine, Apixaban and Ibrutinib. I mentioned to my GP regarding the relationship between Losartan and Ibrutinib and ask if she were aware of any conflict between the two drug’s she said she wasn’t.So where does that leave us?
I have been concerned for sometime regarding side effects of my meds and have identified many conflicts between the various medications which has led to some being stopped.
I do know that there is so much confusion, with clinicians having differing views on prescribed medications.
My GP took a lot of convincing to change my anti hypertensive drug but my consultant insisted. Losartan was not named as a contra indicated drug but the method of action is the same as those that are so he was very firm with her.
Perhaps show your doctor the reference I posted?
Many thanks for your response. I have had many issues in the past with problems associated with prescribed medication mainly with my pre existing illness, Behcets syndrome and since my CLL diagnosis and treatment things have at times become somewhat muddled.
I will certainly make my GP and hospital consultant aware of the reference you referred too, many thanks.
Hi Living2, I too have been on anticoagulants since I was 17, I am now 73 all because of DVT due to an over active immune illness, Behcets syndrome. I’m also on Losartan and Amlodopine as well as Ibrutinib for my CLL.
I note the reply from Jm954 with interest, especially in respect of Losartan and Ibrutinib not being recommended, so I am pleased I saw your post because I would not have been aware of this issue.
So thanks for the post.
I've been taking ibrutinib & coumadin together for 8 years. Not the best combination but I have my INR checked every month & it stays between 1.5 & 2.5 which is my dr's recommendation. I also take lisinopril (5mg) & my BP is normally about 118/72. It's not ideal to take a blood thinner & ibrutinib together but options were limited in 2014, & I didn't want to do FCR.
