CLL treatment and early menopause

Does anyone have resources on whether or how V+O treatment impacts menopause? My specialist is a bit out of his league on this one because I'm one of the youngest patients and my gynecologist isn't well-informed enough about biological cancer treatments. I'd be grateful for any advice, experience, or empathy on this one—I'm only 40 but my symptoms seem consistent with either perimenopause or PMDD. It doesn't help that I'm in a foreign country of course.

Here is the list of side effects for Venetoclax and there is mention increased menstrual flow, as well as a few "less common" side effects in the emotional, psychological vein that may be close to if not the same as some for PMDD.

I hope you get the treatment you need for whatever is the cause, as there is nothing good about feeling miserable.

Hi Jijic,

I have no knowledge about the effects of meds, but it could just be a coincidence rather than a side effect. Perimenopause can last for 10 years or more. At 40 you’re within the age range. Erratic cycles and wildly fluctuating hormones can play havoc with mind and body and you can still get pregnant! I hated it. Your doctor can order a FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) blood test and the results will show if you are perimenopausal. The good news is, if that’s what it is, there are treatments available to help alleviate the symptoms. Hope this helps.
