Neutrophils and evosheld

I had evosheld 2 weeks ago and my neutrophils dropped. Dr. thinks it can be related. Anyone else have this complication ?

I did, GeriGi, but it wasn't acknowledged as a causal complication.

I was told it was a fluke.

Who knows?

How long after the injection did you notice the drop and how long before they recovered?

It was a few weeks later, when I got labs.

Then 6 weeks after that I got labs again, & things had improved.

Too unscientific to mean much, I guess!

Thank you for that. Did you get a gcsf shot like xarxio or neupagen?

I don’t recognize any of that, so I’m gonna assume no, GeriGi.

What did your ANC drop to, & from?

They dropped from 2.0 to .9. If they get below 1.0 docs like to give a neupagen shot. It temporarily boosts the counts to keep you from an opportunistic infection. Hope this helps you for future.

I see. Mine went from, like 3.2 to 1.5, then back up to the 2s six weeks later.

They've been as low as .2, though. Never got the neupagen shot then!

(Though once, a couple years ago, in the hospital, they hit 0, and I got a couple shots, plus an IV of some sort, but I was struggling with other problems then.)

GG,

I had my Evusheld last month and labs last week. No drop for me.

Mine did too! My doc said it was likely the Evusheld. I don't think it's a coincidence. Mine never dip otherwise.

What did doc do and how long before they recovered to normal levels?

Any blood test after Pfizer covid vaccines or after last years and this years Evusheld has had strange results but not always the same deviation. High para proteins, low neutrophils, a surge in lymphocytes. These have dropped to my usual abnormal levels about a month later.

So, what you’re saying is that eventually things recovered to your “normal” levels?

Yes

I'm not an expert, but I do know that Neutrophils rise when fighting infection. Evusheld could possibly have beaten back an infection; since, it is pumping antibodies into your system. It could be logical that the Evusheld beat down an infection you had that had raised your Neutrophil count. Then the Neutrophil count dropped, because it no longer was needed to fight the infection.

That is exactly what happened with my husband and the doctor was ready to start treatment again when I convinced him to wait a while and see if it was because of the Evusheld and after 6 g csf shots his neutrophils returned to normal and have remained so. I posted several times about this. It is 3 months later and his absolute neutrophils continue to be over 4.5.

I kind of wish I had not got the Evusheld cuz now the neutrophils can make me more susceptible to other things. Well, it can’t be undone. Very happy to hear your husbands came back to normal.

We’re the glcsf shots given for consecutive days?

Yes sorry just saw your message. He had them 6 days in a row which turned out to be really too much because ANC jumped to over 30 but stabilized in a few days and have stayed fine. They did them over the 2 day weekend without blood test and that was what put it over the top. I feel certain you will do well too.

Thank you! They will.

Remember though it was worth it in that his spike protein test came back with high immunity 150 plus. And that was with only half the now recommended dosage. His doctor did not want him to get the second round.
