New treatments for coronavirus

kitchengardener2 profile image

Hi everyone,

On Monday I received a pack of lateral flow tests which I don’t think I had ordered. Just now I have received a letter by email from the NHS, detailing what I must do if I think I have contracted covid. The letter gives a reference number and my NHS number. It also says that I will receive a pack of lateral flow tests by 12th April but must not use tests obtained from shops.

Has anyone had anything.

Alice

Hi Alice - I too received a lateral flow test by post yesterday and an email today from the NHS saying the same thing. Wasn’t expecting either but all good👍. K.

I got a LFT box on Monday and the email explaining what the new plan is regarding getting Covid treatment tonight So, the PCRs we all struggled to get hold of in January will probably not now be needed! Good to know there is a plan though.

I received my pack of LFTs on Tuesday and got the NHS e-mail yesterday. Hopefully the lateral flow tests are accurate enough, Terry

Hi Didn’t know anything about this ? Should I be contacting my surgery or go ‘on-line’ to ‘put my name down’ ? Thanks

Yes, same for me.

I’ve had the same. In fact I managed to get covid twice in three weeks, and they think different variants. I was give Paxlovid antivirals for the first infection, and then Antibodies for the second infection. Both of them work fantastically!

The only issue is getting them via the CMDU. Your GP needs to make an urgent referral. Let’s hope no one falls unwell at the weekend. 111 were useless, for the second infection I needed to get referred back to the CMDU. 111 told me I could not speak to a GP, and after 36 hours eventually a nurse called me. She said they could not refer to the CMDU and I could not speak to a GP. That was incorrect information, and they failed to understand the urgency of Leukaemia and Covid infection. My GP was livid, and I have complained to the CCG. Quite frankly the nurse who called needs to be fired. She is dangerous.

That's dreadful and some of these nurses/assistants are incredibly dangerous. I had an UTI a few weeks ago and was prescribed what turned out to be the wrong antibiotic. The nurse was told to contact me on a Friday evening. I was really ill over the weekend and rang again on the Monday to be told that I should have collected the correct antibiotics on the Friday and that the nurse had rung and left a message. Well I don't know who he rang but it certainly wasn't me! I have now made sure that they know which antibiotics to prescribe for me. It really is quite frightening that this issue could have involved life and death medication and the message hadn't got through.
