Well, not sure if I want to go here but, wonder what the vaccine recommendation is for immune suppressed over 50 years old? Now that a fourth vaccine is recommended for over 50, does that mean a fifth vaccine is recommended for immune suppressed over fifty. Not sure if it matters to me. After four vaccines and zero antibodies I might be done with the vaccine business. I know, there might be vaccine stimulated T cells response.

Hi Davidcara,

By T-cells do you mean Evusheld? They are antibodies, not T-Cells.
astrazeneca.com/media-centr...
SNIP: Evusheld, formerly known as AZD7442, is a combination of two long-acting antibodies - tixagevimab (AZD8895) and cilgavimab (AZD1061) - derived from B-cells donated by convalescent patients after SARS-CoV-2 virus. Discovered by Vanderbilt University Medical Center and licensed to AstraZeneca in June 2020, the human monoclonal antibodies bind to distinct sites on the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein10 and were optimised by AstraZeneca with half-life extension and reduced Fc receptor and complement C1q binding.

Why not track some down and get it. Despite the myth there seems to be lots around.

You can use this to see what nearby hospitals have it, and enlist your CLL Expert to confirm you qualify.

I am done with the vaccine business after two shots and one booster. Unless they come up with an omicron specific one.
I agree, I am on the same boat, two Pfizer shots and a booster. Unless there is a reformulación of the vaccines, I see little benefit using the same formula over and over… I will take a wait and see posture. I may change my mind if we get into another wave of infections in the USA, and the numbers of hospitalization increase, which I am not expecting will be the case…
Sounds like you’re a great fit for Evusheld.
Hi David
That is definitely a question for your doctor. I had a pretty good response and when I asked my CLL doctor if I should get a fifth he said i will likely need it (most people will likely need them on an ogling basis) but he suggested I wait and see if a new formula emerges for the fall. You may be different in that you didn’t get a response. Hard to say. In the UK it seems like all of the immune compromised are getting 5th shots.
Thanks
Mark
My MD is not a big proponent of vaccines in those with CLL. At least that is the feeling I get from him. Don’t get me wrong, he is very caring, and I think pretty smart too. When I initially asked him about flu vaccine, he suggested regular adult dose, not high dose. When asked about both pneumonia vaccines he said yes get them. When I asked him about covid vaccines, he replied you know there is not much data on covid vaccines and Ibrutinib. I took that as don’t expect much. Maybe proponent is the wrong word. Maybe he thinks yes get vaccinated but, those on CLL treatments have muted vaccine response rates. Unfortunately, after four covid vaccines he was correct, as least as far as antibodies are concerned. Another expert who occasionally posts on this forum has also said, those with CLL probably do not get the greatest TCell response from vaccination. Now I will say, my MD was very instrumental in helping me obtain Evusheld. So I guess he is a proponent of direct antibody injection.
I’ll probably get an additional dose when it is easily available. Not now, when I have to explain why I am trying to obtain a fifth dose, and still get turned down at the pharmacy counter
