I had a tooth extraction about four months ago as a result of an abscess. I am currently on a similar BTK inhibitor, Acalabrutinib. My dentist gave me antibiotics for a week prior to my extraction. As luck would have it, the, endodontist, who pulled my tooth was very familiar with cll since her father has it. Her advice - to pull it as soon as possible to avoid the infection spreading because of my compromised immunity. Tooth was pulled immediately, abscess went away and my gums healed very quickly
I'm on venetoclax and had a tooth removed. Prior to carrying out the procedure my dentist spoke to my Heamotoligist/oncologist. Who was happy because blood results were good.
Although I have not yet started Chemotherapy, I had 2 molar teeth extracted "in preparation". I know my immune system is pretty depressed, anyway, and unfortunately one gum sac got infected, and was very painful, so I was put on a week's course of Amoxycillin. 4 weeks later, things are getting better, but progress is slow.
Hi BART4,

Check with your hematologist about bleeding risk on Zanubrutinib. I believe all the BTK inhibitors will make bleeding more problematic, so your doctor may advise pausing Zanu for a few days before and after your extraction.
-
SNIP Monitor for signs and symptoms of bleeding. Discontinue BRUKINSA if intracranial hemorrhage of any grade occurs. Consider the benefit-risk of withholding BRUKINSA for 3-7 days pre- and post-surgery depending upon the type of surgery and the risk of bleeding.

I did, it was a while ago, the Dentist just needed my platelets to be near 100, and they had just got up in that range. It went great, as far as getting a tooth pullled but no complications.
Tooth extraction is not as complicated as filling a tooth. I am having two extracted soon, and was told by both my excellent dentist and a specialist that it is quite simple even though I has asthma and cough. I go off acalabrutinib a few days before, as recommendation for surgery for both acalabrutinib and ibrutinib is 3 days before and one or two days after for going back on. I took a holiday of 6 months last time, no remission, but i would not recommend it.
