Intense exercise

I have early stage CLL diagnosed about a year ago. I am a regular marathon runner and just a week ago ran my first 50 mile run. My hematologist told me not to change anything I was doing including my ultra running. So far I don’t think I have had any adverse effects from this passion of mine which is long distance running.

My plan is to continue to do this until I am not able to.

Carry on!

When I was diagnosed I intensified my activity with a PTrainer. As I approached my treatment, FCR, I logged my decline in performance.

Be sensible, listen to your body, your effort and your enjoyment.

Since FCR treatment I recovered my strength. It took over a year, but I got there.

CLL can impact on physical fitness. 50m is a fair wee way!.

Keep going. As JigFettler says, as (and if) you approach needing treatment your fitness will decline but you'll still be in a great place to face whatever treatment you need. You'd be miserable if you stopped anyway!

Wow congrats! If 50miles is not extreme I don't know what is 😁. Keep running away from progression 🤞

Don't know about intense exercise, but I've had CLL over 20 year and been a runner the whole time. Averaging over 15 miles a week. Didn't need treatment for about 18 years. My docs would say " What ever your doing just keep on doing it."

Keep it up! I had to drop down mileage at the recommendation of my ortho surgeon after my hip replacement. Run until you can’t!

If I attempted a 50 mile run, I would have to trade my oncologist for a cardiologist...... 😀

I am. 35 years into the martial arts. At first with CLL I could practice continuously but once CLL raised it’s ugly head everything changed. I still practice but always tired and everything is harder not to mention m spinal fusion and severe arthritic knee, Gary
