...although youtube is not really the problem. After all, it's common enough to see scientists, who have published their work in reputable journals, also publish video / slide presentations on youtube. The problem is when "peer review" is by social media.

Agree with that. I have talked to so many who claimed to have "done research" on those issues. Research is not social media which is usually an algorithm manipulated feed that confirms bias.

My experience with people doing research is divided into two main groups: 1) Looking at reputable sites for information with the desire to understand and 2) Looking for any reference that proves their point.
