This Graphic Perspective explores the fraught history of masking as a preventive intervention in public health crises. Masks themselves have evolved, but the existence of mask slackers and questions about balancing individual rights with the public good are not new. nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/N...

Mask Wars
Thank you… that’s interesting.Stay safe,

A week or so ago a bunch of holiday makers were returning to Slovakia from Turkey. One of the passengers was an anti-masker 50 something lady. She refused to put on an ffp2 mask. The crew wasted an hour trying to persuade her to comply with the request. Her husband was trying hard too but to no avail. Finally they asked her to leave the plane and called the police. At this moment she changed her mind and put the mask on. Too late. She was escorted out of the plane while the other passengers kept cheering and applauding the crew and at the same time kept shouting insults at her. That must have been a sobering experience for her. All of a sudden faced with reality, very different from what she was accustomed to inside her Facebook bubble of anti-maskers. Poor husband left the plane too. She was asking the crew before leaving the plane how she would get home now. Well she could always try walking 😁
That's a very good historical summary - thanks. Brief and informative.
