COVID-19 Breakthrough deaths in the US have doubled from 122 for the week ending 7/26 to 244 for the week ending 8/2 as vaccine effectiveness has waned for everyone. The CDC and FDA are sitting on their hands rather than approving booster shots which are desperately needed by the immunocompromised like us but could benefit everyone.

Delta is much more contagious, expect this number to go further up.

I am writing to the CDC twice a week. Masks, boosters, tracking breakthrough cases are all on my list. It is infuriating how long they are taking when the evidence is in plain sight!

Great! I tweet at them a couple of times a week. They are generally poor on basic testing and tracking. At this stage in the pandemic, there is no reason for the US to have 9% positivity rates (UK is <4%) and there is no reason why they cannot require all health departments to send them accurate, timely, and complete data.

I agree completely! And they should make a strong mask statement rather than the weak "wear a mask in some situations." Good grief!
