I got this on a Google search and wondered if it's any good and if anyone has any experience of it (or if it's just some money making scheme)? Thanks

Summary

No scientific research supports the Dr. Sebi diet. However, it may bring some of the benefits associated with other plant-based diets.

Eating more whole fruits and vegetables could have positive effects on health. It could also help a person to lose weight if that is a goal.

The restrictions of the Dr. Sebi diet, however, could pose risks. It is crucial to ensure that the body is taking in enough nutrients, including vitamin B-12, through supplementation, if necessary.

Thanks Neil I notice the books by the author on SEBI and leukemia have been taken off Amazon- think it's just a scheme to make some cash and Sebi is dead anyway so guess someone is trading off his name

I wonder how can be so much conflicting information out there about diets. Nutrition is an exact science, as opposed to economics or politics. There is only one objective truth, slightly variable depending from age, gender, race, health status. Anybody who looks hard an long enough will find it. All it takes is an open and critical mind.

There are innumerable variables tracking health. Nutrition is just one variable and even then, nutrients are absorbed differently by different people with various abnormalities. Combinations of drugs, exercise, sunlight exposure, emotional stress, sleep, etc. There's a lot to try to nail down how much one particular thing works, like food.

All those variables oscillate around the same thing. They justify adjustments. But the base remains the same. Different diesel engines burn the same fuel somewhat differently. The older the engine or bigger the milage the more problems. But they still burn diesel. A BMW will be somewhat different from a Mercedes but they are still cars and still burn diesel if they have a diesel engine.. You don't run them on gas. The body is also an engine. Arguably the most complex biological one. And in case of the brain which consumes 20% of our daily energy intake definitely the most complex one. Being conscious costs a lot. There are cars (beings) that run on different fuels. Electricity, CNG etc. Those have different engines. Like the cow has 4 stomachs and can eat grass. Also a conscious being, just runs on a different fuel. Can it eat grains? Yes. But it will make it sick. Evolution set grass as the ideal fuel for it. The gorilla as a natural vegan can eat leaves and process them too. Can he live on rice and potato? Sure. But for how long? His engine is different from ours, so runs on different ideal fuel. What did evolution set as ideal fuel for humans? Go back 10 000 years and have a look at what humans ate for the preceeding 200 000+ years during the time we evolved into what we are. Therein lies the answer. Anything discordant with what we evolved on is likely harmful for us. We can burn junk but it does us no good. There is no place for relativism in this respect. You can only depart so far and no further from what you were designed to eat. Like when a lion is designed to eat meat but what if we fed it Beyond Meat? Or soya based fake meat? How far would it take him before killing him eventually? Would they try this in a ZOO? I guess not, it would be animal torture. But as long as humans eat this stuff it's OK. We are supposed to be smart and to know what's good for us. Are we? Or are we too smart for our own good?
