Last week I had my second AZ vaccination happily as my Haematologist said better in the arm than in the bottle. Reading today people will choose not to have second AZ vaccination therefore making first shot ineffective.

Article on Risk associated with AZ vaccine
Well depicted graphically. Risk is an odd thing. We all tolerate huge risk if self imposed, smoking, drinking, driving, etc. Yet if imposed from with out are hugely intolerant. The risk of being struck by lightning is around 1 in 136,000. I have be struck once, felt the static kick and seen the spark hit my hand. I was astonished I recall.
Great issue is made of this vaccine risk. I am sure for many who don't wash hands, social distance or manage mask care the risk of death is greater, yet tolerated.
Stay safe.

Nearly exactly what OH said even the bit about lightening!Unfortunately media here have pushed anti AZ stories without all the facts.
Stay safe too.
I didn't realise the Astra Zeneca vaccine had been approved in NZ, I thought we were all getting the Pfizer shots (as I did ).
What really should be compared is the risk of taking the AZ vaccine, with the risk of not taking it. This article is doing just that: wintoncentre.maths.cam.ac.u...
Absolutely. Especially Delta variant.
