I had great experience with acala. No real side effects. Note that some people have headaches for the first few weeks. Oddly a little extra caffeine is a big help.

I've noticed a few people on this site mentioned joint and muscle pain with acala - this is less common than with ibrutinib.

Acala is usually provided by a specialty pharmacy company. The one I have used is excellent. They contact you when you need refills, they follow-up and they have pharmacists that can answer your questions.

Since you are "new to this" I would also like to suggest that sometimes unusual things happen and you, or your caregiver, needs to be a strong advocate.

I am sure you have lots of questions and this site has a lot of information. It can be overwhelming at the beginning. The good news is that in the last few years treatment for CLL/SLL has dramatically improved and we all have reason to be optimistic.

Hi..as they say everyone reacts differently to meds so I can predict what you will find personally. I myself had some dizziness and some unstable episodes. I’m getting ready to come off of it. I had some huge side-effect challenges from every med I’ve been on..then again you may have none. Best of luck

Spouse has been in Phase II trial for over four years. Dr now says he’s in remission or what they call CLL remission. Diagnosed 15 yrs ago. Not one noticeable side effect. Very thankful for the opportunity to participate in this randomized study
