have any of you been vaccinated with astrazeneca?

Hi

I got a proposal to vaccinate astrazeneca today. Only astrazeneca is available in my country. have any of you been vaccinated with astrazeneca. My doctor told me directly that he did not know if I should get vaccinated because in my country there is a lack of data on people with chronic lymphocytic leukemia vaccinated with astrazeneca.

Thank you for your answer

Many with CLL in the UK have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca and received few side effects as per normal people.

What country are you in?

I am in Canada and had the AZ vaccine a week ago. My oncologist told me any one of the two dose vaccines would be a great vaccine for me.

Another UK CLLer here thats had the AZ vaccine. I think you will find that many of us with CLL in the UK have had it as AZ or Pfizer are the only two currently available (Moderna approved but not available yet). The advice from most CLL experts seems to be to have the first one you are offered.

I had the AZ vaccine in early February. Had a slight headache for two days but nothing unmanageable.

Hi BART4,-

We have had many discussions about vaccines and whether one or another is better and would it help CLL Patients. It will take a long time for that info to be available, so we need to make certain we are still alive when the experts figure that out.

-

The overwhelming reply from our CLL Experts is to take whatever vaccine is available first, and that while it may not make all CLL patients immune to contracting the virus, it is very likely to keep us from serious / deadly symptoms. If a better vaccine appears, we can take it as a booster in the future.

I would take it in a heartbeat.

Very limited data suggest that the second shot makes a big difference to cancer patients' antibody levels, so get your two doses in ASAP. There is no useful study to show which of AZ/ Pfizer/ Moderna will protect you best. Some emerging new variants may change the picture, but that's no reason to delay. Before and after, remain vigilant.

I had my first dose of the AZ at the end of Jan, only side affect was a slightly sore arm.

All the evidence suggests AZ is every bit as good as any of the vaccines available.

We’re in Canada, had AZ 10 days ago. My husbands specialist said the same as all above - take the first one offered!

Yes, AZ for me too. Minor flu like SE for a couple of days. As for efficacy, who knows? We’re all different but some immunity is better than none.

Yes, have had no problems apart from a slightly sore arm

Hi vaccinated in early Feb in UK with AZ. Absolutely no problem just a slight stiffness at the vaccination site. No side effects and due for 2nd shot in a couple of weeks (although I am due to start treatment with Obinutuzimab and Venetoclax nest week so not sure how much protection I will get while on those regimes) Even if i get a limited response my view is something is better than nothing! Everyone I know around here had AZ with no problems. Latest US research shows its a very effective and safe shot at all ages so my advice is go for it.

I had the AZ vaccine at the end of January. All went perfectly. Slight sore arm for a few hours (just like any injection) no other side effects whatsoever. Very happy to have had it and I look forward to the second jab. The best vaccine is the one you are offered!

I had the AZ jab in late January with no side effects whatsoever. I'm due the second one next month. My wife (who does not have CLL) has had both AZ jabs now. The first gave her a minor headache for 24 hours the second had no side effects at all.

I am on watch and wait. I had it, felt off for a day then fine. Look at the odds - in the early stages of the pandemic, I saw a survey where 1 in 5 of us CLLers who caught passed away. So far, no one has passed away from this vaccine or had any serious side-effects that I've read about (all suspicions quashed and recommended in Europe and USA now). So take it. Good chance of dying without the vaccine, good chance of feeling off for a day or two at worst if you take it and living many years to come with all the new CLL medicines here and coming.

Just adding to the chorus.... had my first AstraZeneca shot in early February; no side effects other than a slightly sore arm, and some slight sniffles/scratchiness a day or two afterwards. I'm on Watch&Wait.

Yes I have and have not had any problems at all. I personally, wouldn't hesitate to have any of the vaccines as it's better to cope with any reaction than to get Covid. X2

Hello. My husband, who is the one with CLL had the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine. He has had no side effects whatsoever.

I have read just about every piece of information about the vaccines and , in my opinion, you should get the first vaccine available to you.

Good luck.

Stay safe and well,

Fran 🙂

I had the AZ vaccine this week. No side effects. I’m much happier having the vaccine than not. One of the big supermarkets here are discussing whether employees should be vaccinated.

Hi BART4, I got the AstraZeneca shot last Thursday. I was one the few unlucky ones who got almost every side they vaccine could throw at me! The fever spike to 103 and I went into the hospital to get it checked out. Did the standard battery of tests, all clear. My doctor said he had seen this in some of his CLL patients. Said things would clear up in about 48 hours, and things have. He advised me that it is better to get a vaccine , any vaccine than have none at all. Hope this helps a little.

Stay strong and stay happy.

I had it. Felt like I'd been in a crash for a couple of days but that maybe because I've had Covid. I won't hesitate to get my second dose.
