FranceMary, your symptoms sound like allergic reaction to something--but the eye itching could be dryness also. It is the season for allergies to be our big complaint with the beginning blooms and buds of plants.

I know you are on Ibrutinib. It is not unusual for Ibrutinib to cause skin rashes, but you don't mention a rash.

For your eyes, until you get a definitive reason for them itching, a safe bet is to use a saline eye drop several times a day. If the problem continues, you need to call your Dr. as there may be something more going on systemically. You would be best served to call the Dr. to get an opinion of what may be going on.

Best wishes for getting some ease from the itching. Some recommend an Epsom Salt bath to soothe the skin itching. I would say, do not scratch your itch--breaking the skin invites bacteria and can result in infection with your low immune system as a CLL patient.

thank you for responding. I am on ibrutinib 3 years now. I will try epsom salt as you suggest. It is so hard not to scratch and I can see it just makes it worse. It is the whole midrif especially sides hips and ribs. I get some relief from calamine lotion.

Double check with your doctor and ask if they will prescribe antihistamines. I take ibrutinib and get on ok. Your gp will help I hope. I love flowers but some like lillies and hyacinths have to stay in the garden. I hope it gets sorted. Anne uk.

I recommend you try my go to skin care product, which is coconut oil :-) It helps with just about everything and if it does not, you can use the rest for cooking, LOL.

I, too, suffered terribly with sudden onset of extensive skin itching. ( I am 78 years old and diagnosed with CLL in 2013. I had 3 years on ibrutinib before abandoning it due to afib reaction.) Several visits to my dermatologist and attempts to clear up the itching over two months did not pay off. The only relief was to put my hands in cold water. My dermatologist thought it might be a reaction to nickel, which is in many products. I had a patch test at an allergist and found I had developed a severe allergy to MI/MCI, a preservative used in dish and laundry detergent, shampoo and conditioners, skin lotions, some paints. It's usually the last ingredient listed on a product label. Once I obtained products without this preservative. I didn't have anymore rash/itching. Perhaps this route will give you a direction to find the source of your skin condition.
