best time of day to take Imbruvica?

Hi!

I will be starting Imbruvica in a couple of days, and I'm very anxious about it.

When is the best time of day to take it? Morning or evening?

I worry about the side effects, which I'm sure vary from person to person.

When I started on calquence I had an appt with haematologist and nurse specialist. They are the people to ask, especially the nurse as sometimes they seem to know more about the drugs than the doctors do!

Good luck.....hope all goes well for you.

Hi I am 3 years in on ibrutinib. It is entirely up to you when you take your meds. I started late evening to reduce the impact of any side effects. I have continued to take mine late pm but some take them in the morning.Good luck

as long as it's around the same time every 24hrs it doesn't matter-as long as it's one of the single daily dose tablets. I take mine every morning.

Violet I decided on early morning because if I took in the evening I might forget. So mine are on my bedside table with a bottle of water, so impossible to miss.No side effects ( apart from rubbish nails and weight gain ) so wishing you well.

Hi. I take mine late evening. Look at the positives that this gamechanging drug does, Yes some people have side effects mine is muscle pain but the benefits far outweigh it. Word of advice drink plenty of water, Best wishes.

Hi. I have always taken my meds in the morning. A doctor once told me many years ago to always take new medications that way in case there are any reactions to it. As the years go by I am noticing that I am falling asleep much earlier while watching TV at night. I wouldn’t want to miss my dose because of that. Best of Luck. 🍀

Violet257, your pharmacy new patient packet in the US should include an Imbruvica timer cap that fits the manufacturer's bottle. If your specialty pharmacy isn't giving you one, ask them to get one from the manufacturer. If it helps, how I remember to take my meds, is after I take my "once a day" ones, I turn the bottle upside down. If a med is twice a day or more, I take the extra doses for that day only out with my morning dose and leave them on top of the bottle. Every morning all the bottles get reset. I set timers on my smart phone for the timing, but don't like to rely on them 100% because when busy it's easy for me to silence the alarm & forget to take the med. I can see at a glance if my meds are taken, they are on a shelf in the bedroom. Meds are not supposed to be kept in the bathroom "medicine cabinet", it's often too hot & humid in there. I don't have children around, so this works for me.

I don't like to spend time filling those weekly or monthly pill containers, but many people like them, especially if they travel a lot & can put a week's worth in purse or briefcase.

I think it's a good idea to start in the AM, in case of side effects and in case you fall asleep easily & might forget in evening. If you need to switch to evening once stable, that should be fine.

I take (3 )140mg capsules of Imbruvica at 11pm because I get such bad diarrhea that I normally can make it to 7:30 am before all he’ll breaks loose. I would like to know what individuals take to control their diarrhea with this medication. I have found that lomotil and Imodium D does not work.

Thank you for your helpful comment. I also struggle with diarrhea, mostly from a dairy intolerance, although sometimes it just comes on out of the blue. Imodium has worked so far. I hope someone will read your words and send a better solution for you. Hang in there!

I take lomotil, Imodium, and trying Chi seeds now which actually seem to work. One day I can be fine and the next day out of control. When I have to leave my home for appointment etc. I will stop the pills 2 days prior to my appointment and I have no issues Gary

I started taking mine in the evening to potentially sleep during any side effects ( none ) but I found it hard because it has to be taken approx. same time and I never knew where I was going to be and sometimes forgot to bring them with me. I switched to early morning because I knew I would almost always be at home then. I have been on Ibrutinib just over 3 years now and blood work is good. Good luck.
