Hi , Can you get Ibrutinib treatment in NHS and is it good
Ibrutinib: Hi , Can you get Ibrutinib treatment... - CLL Support
Ibrutinib
Hi, Ibrutinib isn’t routinely available for first line treatment on the NHS unless the patient has a 17p/TP53 deletion which would make FCR chemo unsuitable. It’s available on some trials if you’re selected for that arm. Presently there is some possibility of getting Acalabrutinib on compassionate grounds during Covid but eligibility is limited.
I see you’re from the Lebanon. Are you a U.K. citizen because this would severely affect eligibility for NHS treatment.
Ibrutinib is a highly effective treatment for CLL/SLL but doesn’t have significant success as a monotherapy in reaching UMRD (full undetectable remission).

There has been a NICE change because of Covid

Yes but I’m not sure if this includes use of Ibrutinib for CLL. It says;
‘Option to give oral ibrutinib (with or without rituximab) first line instead of intravenous chemotherapy in patients with mantle cell lymphoma to reduce toxicity of treatment and number of admissions required’.
It has however given people the opportunity to be prescribed Acalabrutinib first line for compassionate/safety reasons which is a real bonus as Acalabrutinib appears to have a reduced toxicity profile especially in cardio terms.

What makes think that I'm Lebanese. 😂
Because you’ve given the Lebanon as your country on the profile you completed;
I see you’ve changed it to U.K. now so advice above remains. Is your haematologist suggesting the need to start treatment?

I had stage 3 CLL at 84 and started on Imbruvica. My CBC returned to near normal within one year and remain since. Important: One must walk a lot for the absorption of the therapy .
